The quieter professional book

A peer-to-peer exchange run by Triplebet. Same back-and-lay ticket as Betfair, usually a thinner book, and a net-win commission Matchbook’s own pages describe as a small cut of profit — not a sportsbook margin.

How it works

Customers match back and lay against each other. Matchbook’s own education pages call this a betting exchange, not a bookmaker.

Triplebet Limited is the operator. Its B2B site states a Great Britain Gambling Commission account (39504) for GB customers and Alderney regulation for non-GB customers. Confirm the licence line on the consumer site that applies to you.

Matchbook also publishes selected “Zero” markets with no commission. Those are specific products, not the whole book. Read the market you are actually in.

Commission, dated

As of September 2026

Matchbook’s own education page describes a net-win commission: a cut of profit on a market if you win, and no commission on losing bets.

Their jargon buster has long said that cut is “usually 2% on winning bets.” That is Matchbook’s own wording, not a live quote for every account and every territory.

Treat “usually 2%” as Matchbook’s own education wording. Territory, Zero markets, and commercial schedules can differ — the rate on your account and market wins.

Third-party readings of current consumer terms have also described a higher standard rate outside the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. We have not treated those secondary recaps as the fee table. Open Matchbook’s own terms and the rate shown on your account.

Commercial or API members can be on a different deal. If that is you, the retail paragraph does not apply.

Matchbook Insights: What is commission?

Liquidity and geography

Useful on the main UK and Irish football, racing, tennis and golf cards. Not Betfair-deep on most slates. If you need the stake filled more than you need a lower cut, start with the deeper book and only then look here.

The interface has a reputation for being built for people who already know the ladder. That is a taste judgement, not a safety claim.

US residents should assume they cannot open a consumer account until Matchbook’s own site says otherwise.

Who it is for

Eligible customers who already understand liability and want a second, often cheaper, book next to Betfair.

People who will check whether they are on a Zero market, a standard net-win rate, or a commercial schedule.

Not a US desk. Not a bonus shop.

Comparison only

Compare matched price plus commission plus fill. A 2% leaflet next to an empty ladder is not a cheaper bet.

If you are used to Betfair’s rewards language, do not assume Matchbook copies it. Read their table.

We do not publish welcome offers. If Matchbook is running one, it lives on their site.

In October 2026 Matchbook (Triplebet) acquired BETDAQ.

We do not run an exchange, hold funds, or take a cut from Matchbook. If their screen, fee table, or licence page disagrees with a sentence here, their screen is right. No bonuses. No “claim” button.
